Plantain Leaf - Class 11/21/24 Grades 1-6 1:00pm
In this class, we will explore Plantain Leaf. Our sensory approach to herbalism allows students to experience herbs, and not just hear about them. Plantain Leaf is not from the banana cousin Plantain. This herb is found growing nearly everywhere in the world is undoubtably under your feet each summer. Known for its drawing and skin soothing properties, it's a kid favorite for stings and bites. it's also used medicinally to help with pain relief. As with all of our herbalism classes for homeschoolers, we will have a hands-on project.
Each student will have the opportunity to fill out an age-appropriate herbal monograph that they can compile to create a start to their own herbal resource, called a Materia Medica used by professional herbalist. We choose child friendly herbs when determining our class line up. Class order or herb is determined by availability of herbs in our gardens and/or from our trusted sources and are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. Register for any or all classes for our fall semester! Interest has been high, register early to secure your child’s spot. You may register multiple children on one registration form and at one check out, but you will have to fill out a short registration form for each of the individual class dates.
